What is the Mojacar Hash?
Mojacar Hash House Harriers. Andalucia Southern Spain. Sunshine annual Hash 1st or 2nd week before Easter. Get away from UK rainy skies, freezing fog etc. Sat and Sunday runs through dry river beds and irate farmers donkey yards. Wine stops. Stragglers run Tues. with brandy stops, beer or wine down downs. Yummy. Hash bar el Gordinos la Sarten. [dedicated] Hash Hotels: Mama Bells Hotel, world famous posers hangout, and new for 2003, El Hostal Arco Plaza, nice place, fronting the square, and with hot and cold running bar maids. Most exclusive hash on the planet, all extroverts welcome.
Ambient temperature March 19-20 degrees centigrade. Make a week of it and visit Granada, Sevilla and nearby Cabo de Gato, world famous desert bird reserve (feathered type) all in the sunshine (and maybe the Sirocco) State of Andalucia. Smell the oranges and lemons on the trees and the Mahou in Gordon's Bar.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to get there. This obviously depends on where you're coming from! From the UK the following may help. Nearest airport is Almeria but only chartered aircraft operate from there, weekly flights with Tarleton Travel, 01604 633 633 Flights only. Alternatives are Alicante and Malaga which are well served by (GO Airlines), Ryanair and Easyjet. Don’t forget www.buzz.co.uk from Stanstead. Alicante is an easy, 2 to 2.5 hours, drive on good roads. Malaga is 2.5 to 3 hours drive. Car hire is a cheap and practical option and a good choice is available at each airport. Also pickup available with Harrys panzer wagen service, groups of 5 people and luggage 20 eu each from Alicante or Murcia, 15 eus each from Almeria airport. Group names to Brigadier. Drinks stop at own expense. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Typical Programme (see page 5) Friday: Check in at the Bar La Sarten, (frying pan) Gordon's Bar for prehydration. Saturday: Beach run followed by circle and dinner (curry and combined hash/inpatients cardboard box band). Sunday: Countryside run followed by Paella evening at Chattos, under the stars and under the table for some. Monday: Day of rest or Mountain Walk. Tuesday: Hangover Village live hare run, Brandy & Circle.

This will cover beer or wine at both runs, and at the posh meals in the evenings, and some snacks. There is a reduction of £10 for non drinkers and children under 4 are free. Also special rates for one-day wonders. Monday and Tuesday an approx 15 eu kitty. Any Euros left over will go towards Tuesday night's really classy meal with speeches, aerially challenged bread rolls and, hopefully mine hosts free champagne again.

The El Torreon guest house is within staggering distance of Gordons, and charge 36 eu double. Tel 950 475 259.
